The overall width of the home is 73 ft. and the front to back overall is 52 ft. The total area is about 4500 square feet. There is an unfinished epoxy floored area of about 800 square feet in the lower level. There are 5 nicely tiled bathrooms and 5 or more bedrooms.
The home is like new, completed in February of 2006. It has 400 amp electrical service, dual heat pumps, two water heaters, an immaculate thick lawn and is in better than new condition. The home is in a very successful new development and construction is limited to 22 lots per year. Presently there are about 40 beautiful single family houses completed and occupied, six or so are under construction. The houses and lots sell quickly; this is one of the most desirable developments in the Shenandoah valley with large custom homes with values into the millions. It is extremely quiet and peaceful with very nice and considerate neighbors. There is a home owners association and architectural review board to protect the development’s beauty. All utilities are public. Upkeep of common areas could not be better. There are areas for developer built cottages and developer built condominiums; all are subject to the rules of the HOA. Lakeview golf course is a 36-hole public course. This development is on the most recently opened nine holes which are meticulously maintained. You can play by the round or by membership. The original course opened 50 years ago with nine holes.
The asking price for the home is $799,827 and agent inquiries are welcome.
The following narrative describes many of the rooms in this spacious home. Numbers refer to the photographs in the photo tour which are in the same order and have similar descriptions.
214: The curved concrete drive connects to the angled two car garage. Wayne Dalton Carriage House Garage Doors add to the home’s subtle Colonial style with neat dormers and crisp gables. The walkway is exposed aggregate concrete. The covered porch has 10 inch tapered round columns on an aggregate porch surface with a soldier course brick edge and brick step.
At the left of the front porch is a faux window with closed shutters. This is where the utility area for the washer and dryer are located.
To the right of the front door is a higher oval window allowing additional light into the master bath on the main level.
The front door is recessed into the two story entry and is beneath an arched window with an indoor plant shelf on the cantilevered second level.
Far to the right side is a single window in the large 10' x 9' custom designed and fitted master bedroom closet.
A single window in the upper part of the gable and two well spaced windows below are on the left wall facing north at a 45 degree angle to Claremont Avenue. Two neat dormers are over the carriage house doors. The room this creates on the upper level is a quiet addition to the upstairs master suite. It could also serve as a bedroom, playroom or office. Below is the garage.
On the front facade upper level, a smaller window with shutters is in a full bath with tub & shower. A large window with “sidelites” above the porch roof is a 14' 5" x 12' bedroom. These rooms are at the top of the staircase outside the upper level suite's French doors.
153: There is a 12' X 24' veranda on the main level and a 12' x 24' patio on the lower level of the home's rear facade. To the right, there is another 10' X 18' patio with with French doors providing access from the lower level and a very nice brick wall providing a private setting.
201: The spacious entry serves a formal dining room on the left with two tall and narrow windows on the front wall overlooking the front porch. The staircase makes up part of the dining room far wall with 5 feet of the staircase exposed to the formal dining side and fully exposed on the other. The far left wall has double 16 inch doors which open to the kitchen. This room could also be a sitting area or music room.
076: Straight ahead from the home’s front entrance is the main level living room. It is open and rises two stories with the formal front door entry. To the left is a large informal dining area with the ceiling back down to 9 feet. The living room has three sliding windows looking over the veranda to the unbeatable views. The views from these rear windows include a most exciting and rare combination of views looking down on the fifth hole lake, fairway and green. Beyond are the rolling hills of the valley, the tall Massanutten Peak and the not-too-distant Blue Ridge Mountains. Short of a cliff over the ocean, this view is unsurpassed.
080: The informal dining area has a cantilevered bay with large windows and access to the 12' x 24' veranda. As mentioned above, the formal dining room is inside the main entrance to the left.
105: The east side of the kitchen is open to the informal dining area. The cherry cabinets with granite tops are custom designed and made locally. The upper cabinets and end cabinets have old glass in the doors, with divided panes. The laundry is in a separate area between the kitchen and the front of the house, accessed from the kitchen.
093: The kitchen adjoins the informal dining area, sharing the wonderful outdoor spectacle. Double doors to the formal dining room can remain open or closed as needed.
From the kitchen and informal dining area, a short wide hallway accesses the office (or another bedroom) also with east facing windows, another full bath, a pantry closet, and a second (utility) stair to the lower level, The garage is straight ahead at the end of the hall.
From the front entry and a bit ahead of the living room and to the right is an inconspicuous cove with a coat closet. This also leads (with a bit of surprise) to the main level master suite. 206: The suite runs along the entire side of the house from front to back. 039: Once inside, the privacy is obvious and relaxation is inevitable. The bedroom is generously sized with bay windows also looking east over the valley to the Blue Ridge mountains, Massanutten peak and the golf course.
The master bath has a large crystalled glass arched window over a spacious air tub. 044: Two pedestal sinks are across from the air tub and a generous shower is next to the tub. The water closet is beneath the high oval window in a cove to itself. The ceiling rises nearly two stories and there is plenty of room between the large lavatories for a small dresser or special storage piece. The bath also has a large linen closet. The 10' X 9' master closet adjoins the bath. This is a tastefully unique custom fitted closet with cabinet storage as well as shelves and plenty of hanging space and also a window.
From the main level entrance the stairs lead up to a gallery landing which serves both an outside of the suite bedroom and bath and the upper level master suite. The upper level master suite is entered through French doors to a central closet and dressing area. There are three closets which serve the suite. (The suite can also be two bedrooms.) The dressing area serves the upper level master bath with a pedestal sink, a shower and a soaking tub. This bath has a double window over the soaking tub with a view north and east. The water closet is neatly hidden around the corner.
131: To the right, inside the suite is the upper level master bedroom with double doors. This room is 24' long and 11' wide at the entrance. The house rear wall has two triple windows each 9' wide. 203: The views are wonderful from anywhere in the upper level master suite, looking east over the valley to the Blue Ridge mountains, Massanutten peak and the golf course. The room narrows at the far end making a cozy relaxing or reading area.
To the home's lower level (ground level adjacent to the fairway): From the main level living area, an open staircase winds down to the spacious lower living area with several adjoining rooms. This level can be a large activities area, a 3rd master suite or a parent or in-law apartment.
034: The staircase enters the large lower level family/living room with a vented gas fireplace centered on the adjoining wall. Two glass doors open to the 12' x 24' covered patio with the gorgeous east views.
019: To the right side of this room is a just completed room with bay windows. It is accessed from the family room by 15 pane French doors. When these doors are opened, the size of the family room nearly doubles. This room is designed to accommodate multiple uses. There is plumbing behind the right side wall waiting for a wet bar or kitchen, or with a closet addition, it could be a bedroom. Next to this room is a full spacious bath. The bath door is 36" to allow ample space for handicap wheelchair access, if needed. It has an accessible shower, water closet and pedestal sink. It is a generous, nicely sized tiled bath with a great look.
031: Through double doors is a nice size room suitable for a home theater, hobbies, library, or just for sleeping. It has two generous closets. A door from this room accesses the remainder of the lower floor, all at fairway level with four floor-to-ceiling windows and double glass doors leading to the other patio. The floor is epoxy covered in this area and at present makes a great woodwork shop and playroom. The doors serve to allow golf cart storage. Partitioned, the area is plenty large enough for a good sized shop, billiard room and garden room with patio. The nice, finished utility stair from the kitchen hallway area on the main level enters this area.
223: The setting of the home with it's incomparable views of the golf course, Massanutten peak, and the Blue Rodge mountains are the focus of this desirable property.
